A couple of weeks ago I saw an ad for the Brother Star Wars Sewing and Embroidery* Machine. Since then I have been wanting to learn to sew again. This is just another obsession that I am adding into the mix that is going to drive James mad.
Wanting to learn to sew has been something I have tried in the past, and I was ok with it for a while but now that I am watching videos again (driving James bonkers in the process) I feel that this is something that I could do. But why am I mentioning the Star Wars Machine? Well not only does it Sew, but it also does embroidery too.
Why Do I Want To Learn To Sew?
I have always enjoyed sewing when I had time in the past even if I wasn’t that good at it, but now, I want to learn to sew to provide awesome new clothing and gifts for my family. Since I own a Cricut Maker* and if I am cutting something small, I can upload that to the design studio and cut it precisely.
I also want to learn to sew so that I am able to adjust my own clothing and maybe even Skyler’s to fit us better. I have a lot of jeans that start to be a bit too big for me and also it might fit me in the waist, but in the bum area, it looks like I am wearing a diaper. I would love to learn to sew so that I am able to fix these issues.
Why Do I Want A Sewing and Embroidery Machine?
I would love to have a combo machine for a few reasons. But mainly so that I am able to produce beautiful designs with the embroidery machine. I know that one thing I plan on making one day is a Steampunk Jacket for James, and if I am able to embroider on it, I know that I would be able to fully customize it for James.
I would also be able to take the 100’s of designs I have from my Cricut and use those to make beautiful items for the family. Monograming and customizing items also could be a lot of fun. I don’t want to sell these items, but share what I am learning here also.
Do I Just Want The Star Wars Machine?
No, I would love to have a more expensive machine down the road but the machines below are a few that I have marked that I want from Amazon to learn to sew from. I don’t know which one I will get around March of this year but I know I am getting one of them.
Amazon does not have a lot of selection to really choose from so I am including a affiliate link to Sewing Machines Plus to their Embroidery Machines where you are able to view their different machines also.
What Am I Watching To Learn To Sew?
I started watching a few different channels to learn to sew here recently. I have found that I love watching the seamstresses that work with vintage designs more than anything but also the ones that go into detail. I watched one recently on how she recreated a historical 18th century coat for a man that gave me the idea for a coat for James with embroidery in a steampunk theme.
The videos below are just a few of my favorites from these YouTubers.
