How To Create A Affiliate Or Sponsored Post Disclaimer

One of the reasons I created Odysseys With Love, is to make money from doing a few things we love. I am not looking to replace all of my income with the blogging income, but it would be nice to be like those Bloggers that claim to be making six figures or more one day from this site. Two methods bloggers use to make an income is Affiliate Links and Sponsored Post.  Affiliate Links are links on a website that when a reader clicks on it, it takes them to another website and if that reader purchases something, the blogger makes a small percentage or commission on that sale. Sponsored Post are blog articles that paid articles that the sponsor is paying the blogger to write.  Those that use Affiliate Links and Sponsored Post are required by law to make a disclosure. Those that use deceptive advertising face serious potential action. The Washington Post shared: The Federal Trade Commission said that companies engaging in word-of-mouth marketing, in which people are compensated to promote products to their peers, must disclose those relationships. … I found a tutorial a while back on how I could display my affiliate disclosure easily without having to type it out every time. Just a click of a button on WordPress in the Post section in the back end of WordPress.  So how do I disclose? It is the first thing a reader reads on my article. I don’t want it to be in the post preview or the excerpt. It has to be before the actual affiliate link. So how did I get the disclaimer where I did without it showing? Keep Reading Below…. Download Or Create A Child Theme I honestly believe that every blogger should be using a child theme. If you are changing anything about your theme, you HAVE to use a child theme because if the theme developer makes any changes or updates the theme, you loose ALL of your work.  I am lucky because my theme developer has already created a child theme for me to download and install. So go check out your developers website and see if they provide one for you.  If not, check out my tutorial on how to create a child theme in just a few minutes.  Download The Advance Custom Fields Plugin Install and activate Advanced Custom Field plugin.  Create Custom Fields Now lets create the fields by clicking on Custom Fields in the tool bar. Create a new Field Group and name it Affiliate Disclaimer.  Click on Add Field and Under Field Label enter Affiliate Disclaimer.  The field name will automatically populate with affiliate_disclaimer. You will need this later on.  The Field Type will be Checkbox.  Under choices enter Display Affiliate Disclaimer : Display Affiliate Disclaimer Now if you want to have a default you can enter Display Affiliate Disclaimer in the Default Value Now repeat this with but replace the Affiliate Disclaimer with Sponsored Post.  DON’T GET SCARED! This is why I said you HAVE TO HAVE a child theme! We are going into the back end of your hosting providers FTP. I am with iPage and go into File Manager.  Navigate to wp-content > themes. Here you will see your parent theme and your child theme. If you don’t see the child theme GO BACK and make one now!  Go into your parent theme folder and find the file thats called single.php, singular.php, or something along those lines.  Once you open that file, type something like Hello and save the file. Look at a post on your site, and see if that is where you want your disclaimer. Its ok to test with this and move the words around.  The code below can be change to to what ever words you want. I like including a link to my disclosure policy. The first is my Affiliate Disclaimer, The second is my Sponsored Post. Spice it up! Change the words, make it fun! Check It Out! Lets head back over to your website and create a new post. Underneath the content area, you can now see the Affiliate Disclaimer and Sponsored Post disclaimer check boxes! Click that and preview the post! There it is!  Did You Try It? Did you try out my tutorial? Let us know down in the comments below what wording you used! Nightmare Before Christmas Inspired Bedroom

I have known for years now that Skyler LOVES Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas. This Christmas, James got her a poster for her room of Jack, and it has me thinking that its time to re-decorate her room. Why not decorate it with a Nightmare Before Christmas Theme. Making My Own Printables I have Photoshop for a reason. I use to love making scrapbook digital elements, so I have a little knowledge of making things for these printables. I started off searching for silhouettes of Jack and also of Jack and Sally together. If I wasn’t able to find a silhouette, I found images that had a white or solid color background. Using the Magic Wand Tool, I selected the solid backgrounds and inverted my selection. I added a new layer and then using the flood fill I filled in the new selection. This gave me a blank canvas. Under this layer I always flood fill it with white, or what ever color I want the background to be, but for today’s, I used white. I had a few stock images of watercolors that I knew Skyler would love, so I added those to a new layer above my new silhouette. Right Clicking on this layer, I selected create Clipping Mask. This applies this layer only to the black silhouette. The only other thing I did was add a few words to a couple of them Nightmare Before Christmas Inspired Bedroom I created a wishlist on amazon for the things that I am either going to start buying or, since I am so lucky to have such a handy man in our lives, have James make. The dresser, nightstand, and artist table are things that he can make for us. The artist table would be even better because it would be more solid, and I can have a light box in the top for her. As you know I have the printable above that you can just click on and save if you wish. The Paint color is Sapphire Glow by Valspar and is available at Lowes. RV Life | How To Choose A Tow Vehicle

Now that we have started our search for a vintage Airstream, we need to start thinking about choosing a Tow Vehicle. The most important thing in choosing tow vehicle is knowing what we will be towing behind us. Since we don’t know the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Ratio) of the Airstream we will be towing, I am going to go off of a new 2018 Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB Bunk model.

Love Languages | 78 Ideas for Your Acts of Service Partner

Back in November, I wrote the post, His Love Language is Physical Touch and shared 50 ideas for the physical touch partner. Today, I am going to share ideas for the partner whos love language is Acts of Service. This is my love language, and James comes by speaking this easily. He seems to do something small every day at least that speaks to me in this way letting me know that he does love me. So What is the Love Language, Acts of Service? If you head over to the 5 Love Languages website, you will see that this love language is for those people who actions speak louder than words.  This is doing things that your partner would like you to do. You seek to please them by serving them. Expressing your love by doing things for your partner. This love language literally means being in service to your partner. Actions that require thought, planning, time, effort and energy done in a positive light, all express love. It is the simple things that mean the most to the person whose love language is Acts of Service. The video below explains it pretty well. 78 Ideas for the Acts of Service Partner Ask “How can I help?” Ask “How can I make it better?” Ask if they need you to pick anything up on the way home. Ask their advice and follow it. Bathe and groom the dog. Bring their car for an oil change. Bring them dinner if they have to work late. Bring them lemonade or ice water when they’re doing yard work. Bring treats to their office. Clean the cat litter box. Clean their computer monitor. Change the lightbulbs in all the lamps. Draw them a bubble bath. Do a home improvement project they have hinted at. Do the one thing they have been bugging you to do before they have to bug you again. Do their least favorite chore for them. Do something they forgot. Doing the dishes Doing the laundry Doing things without being asked. Fill up their car with gas. Fixing things around the house. Fold all the socks in their sock drawer. Frame their favorite quote. Give them a pedicure. Give them uninterrupted video game time or time to watch a sporting event. Go to the museum or exhibit they have been dying to see. Have dinner ready when they get home. Help them clean out the garage. Helping them with a project. Hire a maid for the day, or better yet, clean the whole house top to bottom. Hold the doors open. Let them choose the movie. Let them sleep in. Look for opportunities to serve them. Make a list of the things they have requested or mentioned needed to be done. Then make it a point to do one once a week or so. Make a special dessert for them. Make lunch for them the next day. Make the bed. Make them a cup of coffee or tea. Make them breakfast. Make them breakfast in bed. Mow the lawn. Offer to give them a back rub. Offer to give them a foot massage. Offer to wash their hair for them. Organize a surprise party for their birthday. Pamper them. Pick up a bottle of their favorite wine or case of their favorite beer. Pick up a small trinket they would like but wouldn’t buy for themselves. Plan a weekend getaway where they have to do nothing but enjoy. Plug in their phone if they forgot. Print and frame their favorite photo. Put love notes in their lunch. Put the kids to bed. Rake the leaves. Run their errands so they can rest. Sacrificing what you want to do for them. Say “Can I help you with that, honey?” and then do it. Send them flowers at work. Shine their shoes. Shovel the snow without being asked. Subscribe them to a magazine they may like. Surprise them at work with their favorite coffee drink. Surprise them with a bonfire and s’mores. Surprise them with their favorite treat. Treat them to a night at a hotel. Their Choice, ask them to write down the things they would like done, and then work on getting these things done. Warm their towel in the dryer after their shower. Wash their car. Wash their favorite coffee mug. Water the plants for them. Take care of the kids for one whole night. Take out the trash without being asked. Take the dog for a walk. Thank them for the acts of service they do for you. Untangle a mess or cords. Visit them with their favorite lunch.

Photography Tips For Beginners & FREE Resource Download

I can not believe the school year is halfway over and Skyler will soon be moving on to 7th grade. One of the things we started to talk about the other day is extracurricular activities that she can participate in. We already know Art is one of the classes she will want to take. It is something that she loves and thoroughly. That is when she asked me about taking pictures and if that would be considered art. Introducing Skyler To Photography. Photography is art, and it always will be. It is a art form that I am very passionate about. So now that Skyler might be taking even the slightest bit of interest, I am EXTREMELY excited. Over the years she has helped me when I had clients and needed my scrim or if I needed help with my lights when I tried the in home studio. I told her that photography isn’t just about taking a photo. It is about seeing the light. If she is wanting to take pictures of people, that is being able to see them in their best light and composing the image to make a story. If she is wanting to take photos of landscapes or things, she will still need to see the light and learn composing. Digital Photography has made trying photography not only affordable, but also fairly easy. When I was growing up, I had disposable cameras and had to wait to get my images back after having them processed. Now, I have a large memory card in my camera and I am able to take as many images as I want. Digital Photography is also now available on our cell phones, and with the advancement in technology, cell phone photography is actually rather good. My little iPhone is easier for me to lug around than my rather bulky DSLR. DSLR VS Point and Shoot VS Cell Phone for beginners. As I said, years ago I started with picking up disposable cameras. When Skyler was little, I got my first point and shoot. Over the years I have upgraded my cameras and now currently own a Canon Rebel T5.

How To Earn Money While Living Full-Time in an RV

James and I are still young and we still need to have an income right now and also when we get on the road and start traveling full time in the Airstream when we have it. I knew I would have a small income coming in from my photography business, and it is also one of the reasons I started this website.

DIY Home Decor | His and Her Vows

Christmas Morning, James and I stood in front of our Christmas Tree and said a few words that will forever be imprinted in my mind. I knew I wanted to take these words that we had thought long and hard over and turn them into something that we will always be able to see and look back on. The Printable I made it easy for those that do not have Photoshop to recreate this printable by going to Canva, a free designing app. Its available for computer access and for iPhone. It took me about 5 minutes to make this and I will have it printed and framed to go on our bedroom wall. You can edit everything about the printable from the background color, fonts, text size, and more on Canva. Professional Prints I am sending this in to have it professionally printed by Mixbook’s Home Decor or their photo prints depending on where I am going to place them. I am thinking two 11X14 prints and then framing them to go on the outside of a picture of James and me.  Mixbook’s has a lot of options from canvas to acrylic prints to choose from. Once I have the prints hung, I will be sharing them on our Instagram. So be sure to keep an eye out at https://www.instagram.com/odysseyswithlove/ What were our Vows? I sat down over several days really thinking about what I wanted to say to James. I wanted it to be who I am and show James how much I love him. I wanted him to know that even though this was just a commitment ceremony that it meant more to me than a wedding or us going and getting legally married. I can not speak for James on his words to me on Christmas morning other than they really did bring tears to my eyes. They were the most heartfelt words I think I could have ever heard him utter to me.
