Welcome to the Discover Dallas series, where we share local finds around Dallas TX. Hidden away in a little corner of Oak Lawn in Dallas TX, you will find a fantasy-themed park. In 2009 Mark Mahan built Dragon Park as an extension of Select Salon Dallas. If you are passing this park on the street, or even walking by, this park looks like an overgrown garden guarded by two dragon sculptures. But, once you walk inside you feel like you have stepped into another world.
Inside of Dragon Park, you will find a few sculptures of dragons, an angel, a fairy, lions, and gargoyles. The park is small and has a little parking lot to the rear of it with plenty of parking for the guest. It is a private park, but it is free to visit but as one of the signs says, it is at your own risk. With the way the park’s gardens have grown, it is secluded and has a tranquil feel. Then again, the park is an extension of a salon, so that does make sense.
Dragon Park Pictures
Dragon Park also makes a great place for pictures with the many areas. I have also seen on the parks unofficial Facebook page where couples have tied the knot. While we were there we did take advantage of a few picture opportunities.
