National Adoption Month BLENDED FAMILY BLOG FAMILY

National Adoption Month

have been told one story most of my life that has always brought a tear to my eye. It is the store of how I came to this earth. My mother has wanted children all her life, and she was blessed with a son. She went out one night to gaze at the stars and she made a wish for a daughter, as she reached up to pick one of the millions of stars, she picked my star. From that day forward I was her child. National Adoption Month…

Sandwich Generation BLENDED FAMILY BLOG FAMILY MOM LIFE

The Sandwich Generation

You’re asking yourself what is the Sandwich Generation. The Sandwich Generation is a generation of people (usually in their 30s or 40s) who care for their aging parents while supporting their own children. How does that relate to us at Odysseys With Love? Megan has been caring for her 77-year-old mother for the last few years, and the burden has gotten stronger as time goes on. I struggle to maintain schedules between my mother and also for my young children. This site isn’t just about travel, we have family and love too. Who can…

Upgrading Our Six Flags Over Texas Passes

Over the weekend we headed out to Six Flags Over Texas. When checking our passes Saturday morning, I noticed that the month of September we had the option of bringing a friend for free, on both Skyler’s and my passes. This meant that we could bring James and Rhyan without it costing us anything more.  We had one Deluxe Dining Pass and a sports bottle so we would only need a little extra for food for all of us. This was a test run to see if Rhyan could ride…

Welcome Back to School | No Home Schooling

Its back to school for Miss Skyler. So, I have to say, WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL SKYLER! We have talked about us home schooling Skyler over the summer, but Skyler has been promoted to the 6th grade and chose to return to her school. I am a little sad that she would prefer that now, but as we are not ready to start full-time travel, you know its okay for now. Meeting the Teachers at the Welcome Back to School meetings I just got back from meeting all three of…

Work For Hire Chore List Allowance BLENDED FAMILY BLOG FAMILY KID LIFE

Work For Hire Chore List Allowance

Megan does not pay an allowance to the girls, but over the last few weeks we have noticed that the oldest, Skyler, has not wanted to complete any chores around the house. After finding out that the credit card that Megan uses has a “Family Account” option that sends a credit card in the family members name, and you transfer money to that card so that it isn’t connected to the main account. Megan created a Chore List Allowance worksheet called “Work For Hire.” Skyler will have to earn her…

BLENDED FAMILY BLOG FAMILY RHYAN THE OWLETS

The “D” Word

As most of you know I am a single mother. To top that off, I am the only parent my girls really know. Sure, Skyler knows who her Dad is, and has even communicated with him some. We have a pretty decent relationship. Rhyan however does not know her biological father. It is by his choice. I have never hidden her or kept her away from him.
